much consideration, the total outlay for the training of this

nullah is estimated at $2,400, (Mr. Tooker's minute of 18.10.01

in 0.5.0.415/1901). For this trifling cost, one of the worst

nullahs in the City, considered in the light of its influence

on the public health, could oe rendered healthy; and I beg

again to urge upon His Excellency's attention this measure,

which at least is thoroughly practicable.

Nulleh West of Richmond Estate.

I found Anopheles larvae here and there

throughout the nullah in its entire length from Bonham Road to

well above Upper Richmond Road, båt sparingly, and chiefly in

hollows that have proosoly resulted from the heavy rains of the

early weeks of November.

A large part of the bed of this nullah is of

very soft material, and the gang of men engaged on this work

ought to go over it carefully a few days after each heavy rain

to repair any deviations of the stream from its proper channel.

This nullah requires continuous effort, so

long as temporary measures are relied on. Any relaxation of the

work will for the reason above mentioned be followed by the

existence of new sluggish water-pools, which will in a few

weeks be giving off Anopheles Mosquitoes.
